Who is Samuel Morse? Samuel Morse was an American inventor and painter. He is known for inventing the telegraph system. Samuel Morse was born on April 27, 1791 and was interested in painting. Samuel graduated from Yale college in 1810, and took the job as a clerk in a bookstore. He continued to paint during this time. In 1811, he set off to England to pursue art. One of Samuel Morse's paintings Samuel Morse came back to America in 1832, and did experiments with Jackson's electromagnet. He made the concept of the single-wire telegraph. He also invented the Morse code, which is a way of communication through the telegraph. He obtained the patent after fighting for it for many years.
