 Aftermath of WW2: USA

On Sep 2, 1945, Japan surrendered after two atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese mainland cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Soldiers returned back to the US to their families and loved ones. The US started to boom as a country: leaving it's poverty state and become one of the most dominant superpowers of the world, along with the USSR.

Fertility rates rose as more and more hope was found for the future. The Fertility rates rose from barely 2 in the 1930's to over 3 during the 1950's and 60's. But by the 1950's the US found another enemy; their previous ally in WWII. The Korean War took place in the Korean Peninsula with USSR on its enemy; and the cold war started. The Cold War was a series of Economic Wars including The Nuclear Arms Race, the race to the moon, and other races that were fought during the 20th century until the fall of the Soviet Union.

But the Economic Prosperty did not reach out to everyone; many people were still in poverty, especially African-Americans. Many movements took place to take out racism and make everything equal to everyone, but it is still not resolved fully. Many people are still discriminated today. But one thing was sure; everyone knew that the US wasn't a joke anymore.
