Aftermath of WW2: USA On Sep 2, 1945, Japan surrendered after two atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese mainland cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Soldiers returned back to the US to their families and loved ones. The US started to boom as a country: leaving it's poverty state and become one of the most dominant superpowers of the world, along with the USSR. U.S. Citizens celebrating WWII Victory Fertility rates rose as more and more hope was found for the future. The Fertility rates rose from barely 2 in the 1930's to over 3 during the 1950's and 60's.
